Also sold as dual or day-night shades. Two layers of banded fabric move against each other: align the opaque bands and the window closes down; offset them and light filters through the sheers. It behaves like a dimmer rather than a switch, which is why it has become the default choice in condominium living rooms — one blind covers bright morning, harsh noon and evening privacy.
